PDF: Create PDF document
Use this action to generate a PDF file. You can generate a PDF from a few different types of files: DOCX, RTF, & TXT.
Use case
- Use the create a word document action to dynamically create a word document then convert that to PDF using this task.
- Easily distribute a document when your audience does not have Microsoft Office.
- Collect e-signatures through a PDF.
How to configure this action
A DOCX, RTF, or TXT file must exist prior to this action, either uploaded into a previous field or Instance Field.
Fields for this action

File name
- Specify the file you are turning into a PDF through a reference field.

New file name
- Create a name for the saved PDF file.
.PDF
does not need to be added to the file name.
note
- Note: The New file name field cannot contain a field reference if the file will be referenced later in the instance.
- Create a name for the saved PDF file.
What will this output?
This action will create a new PDF file and output to a field. The name of the field will be the same as the New file name defined during configuration.
Output fields for this action

- The output field is a file field which with the new PDF file. Both the new PDF and this field’s name will be the New file name defined during configuration.
