Dates: Set Value of a Date Field

Use this action to set the name and value of a new or existing field and set the field type as date. You can quickly create a new date field or format an existing field into date format.

This action can help you ensure that a field is in the correct format, before using additional actions that require that format.

Use case

If a user-inputted field needed to be modified to add 7 days, this action could ensure the input is formatted as a date prior to the Dates: Adjust a date action.

How to configure this action

Fields for this action

• Output field value

  • A date or field in {{field-name}} format
  • For best results, use the YYYY-MM-DD format

• Input format

  • Leave blank for the default YYYY-MM-DD format
  • For other formats, enter the format of the Output field value date, following the options found in the help article Dates format a date time.

• Output field name

  • The name of the field in which the result should be saved. The step name is used by default.

What will this output?

The Output field name will display the result, with the formatting specified by the Input format. For example, the result may be January 01, 1969.
