Date-times: Adjust a date & time

Use this action to add or subtract minutes, hours or days to/from a date-time.

Use case

A common use for this action is generating date-times necessary for enforcing SLAs or deadlines. This action is also used often when setting up reminders or notifications to be sent out, or even when automating the start of a Workflow instance.

How to configure this action

Pay special attention to time zones to prevent incorrectly adjusted date times. In inputs, Date-times should be in the ISO format YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sZ.

The ISO format uses a Z or +-hh:mm at the end to represent time zones. All time zones have a +-hh:mm offset. Z is unique and represents Greenwich Mean Time, or +00:00, otherwise all other time zones are entered by their offset. For example, Central Standard Time is -06:00, and Japan Standard Time is +09:00. A full Date Time in ISO format in Japan Standard Time would be: 2018-03-23T03:00:00.0+09:00.

Tips

  • When using this action in conjunction with a Dates: Format a Date Time action, be mindful of the expected format for the Original Date-Time configuration. Whenever possible, it is suggested to use the Dates: Format a Date Time action last to ensure proper formatting.
  • If it is necessary to use a Dates: Adjust a Date & time action after already formatting a date/datetime value, use the unformatted Input from the Dates: Format a Date Time as the Original Date Time in Dates: Adjust Date & time.
