Date-times: Adjust a date & time

Use this action to add or subtract minutes, hours or days to/from a date-time.

Use case

A common use for this action is generating date-times necessary for enforcing SLAs or deadlines. This action is also used often when setting up reminders or notifications to be sent out, or even when automating the start of a Workflow instance.

How to configure this action

Pay special attention to time zones to prevent incorrectly adjusted date times. In inputs, Date-times should be in the ISO format YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sZ.

The ISO format uses a Z or +-hh:mm at the end to represent time zones. All time zones have a +-hh:mm offset. Z is unique and represents Greenwich Mean Time, or +00:00, otherwise all other time zones are entered by their offset. For example, Central Standard Time is -06:00, and Japan Standard Time is +09:00. A full Date Time in ISO format in Japan Standard Time would be: 2018-03-23T03:00:00.0+09:00.

What will this output?

This action will output an adjusted date-time value in the YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM AM format. The name of the output field will be the Return Field Name defined during configuration.

The output time zone is always converted to the current time zone. If the output time looks strange, confirm that the Original Date-Time is in the correct time zone.

Output fields for this action

  • Return Field Name

    • The adjusted date & time in the YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM AM format.

  • When using this action in conjunction with a Dates: Format a Date Time action, be mindful of the expected format for the Original Date-Time configuration. Whenever possible, it is suggested to use the Dates: Format a Date Time action last to ensure proper formatting.
  • If it is necessary to use a Dates: Adjust a Date & time action after already formatting a date/datetime value, use the unformatted Input from the Dates: Format a Date Time as the Original Date Time in Dates: Adjust Date & time.

Sorry about that. What was the most unhelpful part?
