Automation Anywhere Integration Setup Guide
Automation Anywhere is a provider of enterprise RPA tools and software. PagerDuty Workflow Automation’s Automation Anywhere integration enables organizations to seamlessly initiate and monitor RPA bots from PagerDuty Workflow Automation.
This integration enables two Automation Anywhere (AA) Workflow actions:
And with a configured AA integration, all PagerDuty Workflow Automation Web API Actions can access the AA Control API. The API adds additional functionality, like getting lists of bots, queues, or available devices.
Benefits of integrating PagerDuty Workflow Automation and Automation Anywhere
Deploy AA bots on demand
Use the Automation Anywhere Integration and actions to enable on-demand bot deployment. Before integrating with PagerDuty Workflow Automation, AA bots are often deployed to a device 24/7 to monitor for file uploads or incoming emails.
Instead of deploying a bot on a device 24/7 to monitor for incoming emails or file uploads, deploy bots on demand and as part of other PagerDuty Workflow Automation Automation.
PagerDuty Workflow Automation can kick off a Workflow to parse incoming text, extract data from a spreadsheet or image, rename and resize a photo, then use the AA: Deploy a bot to a device action to start prebuilt AA automation on demand, without tying up a machine or license all day.
Keep people in the loop
Automation is a team sport, where people and bots work together. With AA, it’s challenging to have an automated process with multiple hand offs, over multiple days, based on multiple conditions or factors. AA shines for on the spot RPA, but can be tricky to configure for these multi-stage processes.
Since PagerDuty Workflow Automation can start a queue or deploy a Bot on demand, valuable human input and control can be built straight into your traditional RPA systems. Now normal people and business users can send an email, submit a webform, or complete a task and kick off AA automation.
Required Setup
It’s quick and easy to connect PagerDuty Workflow Automation to your Automation Anywhere Control Room and only requires a username, password, and your control room URL. The integration requires Automation Anywhere Version 11.3+ and the Automation Anywhere Control room.
The user used for the integration must have the minimum permissions set in their Control Room to perform the actions they will perform with AA actions through PagerDuty Workflow Automation with AA actions or Web API actions. For example, if you are using an integration to deploy a bot to a device, ensure that the integration user has permissions in Control Room to deploy that bot to that device
PagerDuty Workflow Automation will need to be able to make inbound requests to your Automation Anywhere Control Room (our IP addresses will likely need to be whitelisted).
